About us
For more than 20 years, the GEB has been active in the planning, organization and implementation of mobility and education projects in Germany, Europe and other counties. This has included working with partner organizations in 21 countries in the European Union and other European and International partners. GEB is supported by the European Commission, various national and local authorities, businesses, organizations and individuals. Since February 2010 the GEB London has been established as an independent organisation (GEB Ltd. by guarantee).
Our work focuses on:
International Exchanges and Seminars
Since the association has been established we have been planning and organizing international exchanges and seminars for young people. As part of the project, young people from two or more countries come together to work on an issue and live together for ten to twenty days. The aim of the project is to give youngsters the opportunity to get to know people from different cultural backgrounds. This process helps to break down prejudices, learn about different cultures and to understand each other.
Projects for professionals in education or training
One focus of our work is the development of new modules that are internationally, as well as nationally oriented in vocational training.
In order for education systems in Europe to be compatible with each other it is necessary that we understand them. One is able to understand training systems properly if they can study the practical as well as the theoretical elements. These are the, mostly bilateral, mobility projects for instructors. The one to two weeks-long seminars are not study camps, but are an opportunity for those in vocational training to meet with colleagues from other European countries, share good practice, discuss new approaches for vocational education and if possible, plan joint projects at a European level.
Professional qualifications projects at a European level
The future of the European labour market depends on the mobility of employees. Mobility does not mean that employees go to Liverpool when there is no more work for them in Paris. Instead mobility benefits from the experiences of others who have seen new approaches and opportunities for training and flexibility.
In university studies, there are hardly any courses, which do not offer one or more semesters abroad. The opportunity to stay overseas is also important for non-academic professions. One of the policy objectives of the European Commission is to promote mobility in vocational training. Therefore, it offers funding that can provide work experience placements for a large number of people in another European country.
The internships that we provide are for a period of one to six months. They relate to both initial vocational training as well as higher education.
Every year, in cooperation with our partners, we receive around 250 scholarships for people from Germany and organize a professional stay in Berlin and London for approximately 300 interns from Europe.
Tailor-made learning stays and volunteer service in Europa
Thanks to years of international work, we have been able to built a solid network of partner institutions across Europe and beyond. We also like to use our connections to individual organizations who have provided facilities abroad (for example: internships, accommodation or help with languages), for pupils, students or other interested individuals. The arrangement of internships as a part of the Erasmus program, or individual international volunteers are also possible.
Research and development projects
These projects are mainly used to improve access for citizens of the European Union to education and training and to improve on the quality of these services.
