Further education for instruction personnel

In cooperation with partners in Europa and internationally, the GEB run seminars and further education for teachers and other educational experts, who are active in international youth work for general or vocational training. The main objective is to provide these groups of people with the opportunity (mainly on an international level) to develop skills and competences in certain topics and to get an insight of European and national education and training programs used by the GEB, and in turn to use it for own clients.

INPUT - partnership for event managers in the field of art and culture

(October 2010 until June 2012 in Rome, Berlin, Krakow, Wolverhampton (West-Midlands, UK), Bordeaux, Lisbon, und Perpignan)

The profession of the event manager or as the Germans calls it: Event Saleswoman/-man is becoming increasingly important as cultural functions and projects acquire professional event management and marketing. Because of the declining number of public funds for culture and arts, smaller and private organizations are compelled to manage their campaigns and events in a manner which ensures a financial sustainability.

These are the occurrences in Berlin, but also Rome and the other participating cities from the project do not have fundamentally different circumstances.

For this reason we entered a partnership with constitutions in Europe, from which all have a strong local network in this area. From 2010 to 2012, all European partner organizations will take part in conferences, which will be realized in the participating countries. At the same time these meetings are aimed at local partner organizations in the area of culture and arts and are in particular called on Event managers in the individual countries.

The goal of this partnership is to provide possibilities to organizations and as large a number of employees as possible in this area. Thus we want to unfold developments and examples of good practice on European level and to offer as good practical insights as possible in this profession of the respectively other country. This means that all participating organizations attempt to understand the training methods of the partners and if applicable to integrate it into their training or to adapt modes according to own requirements.

Particular attention is taken that the respective local networks are involved in all procedures. These local networks each consist of:

  •  A VET school in this area that is authorized to approve state-certified vocational trainings. In Berlin: The Oberstufenzentrum Verwaltung
  • An organization responsible to organize a cultural event at the date of each conference in all participating countries. In Berlin: Berlinale 2012
  • An organization supporting the start-up of businesses and company founders. In Berlin: Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie
  • An organization responsible for employment services, mediating employees. In Berlin: Bundesanstalt für Arbeit
  • A local organization of cultural and creative figures. In Berlin: Förderband – Kulturinitiative Berlin e.V.

Kick-Off-Meeting Rome

The project began with an inaugural conference from 8th till 11th December 2010 in Rome. All partners reported first how the training as an Event Manager was organized in their countries. In addition, work plans for the next two years and financial framework were developed and established.
A report of the conference can be found here. Unfortunately, the document is only in Italian.
