EfA-Soz - Europe-wide specialised training at national advanced vocational schools for social education

Work placement for 13 up to 24 weeks for persons undergoing a traineeship as state-approved educator.

Applications can be made from all over Germany. The stays abroad can be adjusted according to the different training regulations of each federal state!

This project is being managed by Germany in cooperation with state vocational schools which offer vocational training as educators / kindergarten teachers. The work placement is an integral part of the 3-year training and has to be done in the third year. It is a 20- or alternatively 24-week internship which, for the first time, can be carried out in other European countries (UK, ES and PL). The results of the internship will be certificated in the host country and recognized by the vocational schools in Germany. The learning results will be relevant for the exam.

In Berlin as well as in many other cities, kindergarten teachers and educators deal with children and teenagers with migration background almost everyday. In Berlin, the amount of Kindergartens which are attended mostly by children with migration background has increased. On the other hand there are future-kindergarten teachers who have only very rarely made their own experiences with migration.

In the specialised training the students can get to know social education establishments in different fields of work and can familiarise with the local working conditions. They are supposed to deepen and widen  their knowledge, skills  and capabilities they gained during their training.

Following expenses are covered by the scholarship:

-  travel expenses (In- and Outbound flight  or . the roundtrip to host country)

-  preparation in Berlin (interviews and a weekend seminar - overnight stay in a hotel in a

   double room for  externam participatns)

-  airport transfer upon arrival

-  expenses for local public transport (if necessary)

-  accomodation in a shared appartment or with a host family

-  Help with finding a suitable work placement, support and tutoring

-  linguistic preparation in the host country
